CBTR was founded by Hayley with a simple belief: exceptional eyewear deserves an exceptional experience.

After more than 13 years in independent practice and hospital clinics, she saw an opportunity to create something different. A place where appointments are never rushed, craftsmanship is celebrated, and every client is treated as an individual.

Today, CBTR combines award-winning eyecare with a carefully curated collection of independent eyewear from some of the world's finest makers. Alongside this, advanced diagnostic technology, including OCT and Optomap imaging, ensures clinical care of the highest standard.

Founder & Optometrist

Hayley Brunsden

Hayley began her optical career in 2010 and has spent more than 16 years working across independent practices and eye hospital clinics. She qualified as a Contact Lens Optician before going on to graduate as an Optometrist with First Class Honours.

Alongside her clinical work, Hayley served as Chair of the Oxfordshire Local Optical Committee for three years and has developed a reputation for combining meticulous clinical care with a passion for exceptional eyewear.

CBTR was founded to offer something different: unhurried appointments, highly personalised care, and access to some of the world's finest independent eyewear collections.

Outside of the practice, Hayley enjoys weightlifting, long walks with her Yorkshire Terrier and supporting Watford FC (although that has offered limited joy in recent years!).

Dispensing Optician

Terri Farrant

Terri began her optical career in 2013, working alongside Hayley in a small independent practice. She went on to qualify as a Dispensing Optician through ABDO, building a reputation for her technical expertise, attention to detail and naturally reassuring approach.

Having worked together for many years, inviting Terri to join CBTR was an easy decision. Her commitment to exceptional service and genuine care for clients perfectly reflects the values at the heart of the practice.

Whether helping clients find the perfect frame or ensuring every pair fits flawlessly, Terri combines clinical knowledge with a calm, thoughtful approach that clients immediately trust.

Outside of CBTR, Terri enjoys spending time with her young family and making the most of life with two little ones keeping her busy.

Eyewear Stylist

Sarah Cheah

Sarah joined CBTR in 2025 after making a bold career change into optics. Having been a client herself, she developed a genuine appreciation for exceptional eyewear and the confidence the right frame can bring.

With a natural eye for style and a passion for helping people look and feel their best, Sarah plays a key role in delivering the personalised experience CBTR is known for. Her warm, approachable nature and attention to detail make her a favourite with clients.

Having also completed professional barista training, Sarah is responsible for ensuring both our styling consultations and our coffee are of the highest standard.

Outside the boutique, Sarah enjoys aerial silks, bouldering and long walks with her Cavachon.

Hayley's Journey

From Receptionist to Optometrist Boutique Owner.

Hayley’s career in optics began over 16 years ago at her local village opticians, where she started as an enthusiastic 18-year-old Optical Receptionist. Her interest quickly evolved, leading her to begin a three-year course to qualify as a Dispensing Optician while working full-time.

But she didn’t stop there.

A drive to learn and a commitment to exceptional eyecare led her to pursue further training as a Contact Lens Optician, followed by a sabbatical year dedicated to completing a BSc in Optometry. She graduated with First Class Honours.

After seven years of study, unwavering determination and more than a few cups of coffee, Hayley took her next step. She left the job she had held since her teens to become Head of Optometry for an award-winning group of independent practices in Oxfordshire.

When that business was sold, Hayley knew it was time to create something of her own. Something that reflected her values of clinical excellence, personal service and true independence.

That something became CBTR Opticians.
