Our Story
Our founder Hayley (above, right) created CBTR to do things differently. After years in the industry, she felt something was missing - real time, real care, and a more considered approach to eyecare.

As a fully independent practice, every decision is made with our clients in mind. We take the time to get to know you, offering expert advice, exceptional products, and a truly personal experience - without ever compromising on quality or sustainability.

Meet The Experts
Hayley Brunsden BSc (Hons) MCOptom FBDO CL
Founder & Optometrist
​
Hayley started her Optical career in 2010 as a Trainee Dispensing Optician in a small independent practice, where she completed her 3-year course to become a Dispensing Optician, followed by qualifying as a Contact Lens Optician in 2015. During her sabbatical year in 2017 she qualified as an Optometrist, gaining a First Class Honours degree from the University of Bradford.

Hayley has worked in independent practice over the past 15 years as well as gaining experience in eye hospital clinics. In addition to working full-time she was Chair of the Oxfordshire Local Optical Committee (LOC) during the 3 years before she founded CBTR.
​
Hayley is committed to providing exceptional and tailored client service whilst keeping sustainability at the forefront of every business decision she makes. She excels at CBTR Opticians, where she is able to give clients a personal service in an unhurried atmosphere.
​
In her spare time she enjoys weightlifting, walking her Yorkshire Terrier, and watching Watford FC (although that hasn't brought much enjoyment over the past few years!).
Terri Farrant FBDO
Dispensing Optician
​
Terri started in the Optical industry in 2013, working alongside Hayley in a small independent practice. She quickly began her 3-year course with the Association of British Dispensing Opticians (ABDO) to become a Dispensing Optician.
​
When Hayley created CBTR Opticians, it was a no-brainer for her to ask Terri to form part of her small hand-picked team.
Terri is officially on maternity leave as she welcomes her second beautiful bundle of joy into the world!
We're absolutely over the moon for her and can't wait to meet the newest little member of the CBTR family.
Wishing Terri all the love and happiness during this special time — we already can't wait to welcome her back in April 2026!
Sarah Cheah
Optical Assictant

Sarah joined CBTR Opticians in 2025, having made a bold career change into optics after being a client of Hayley’s and falling in love with eyewear styles and manufacturing. What started as an appreciation for great eyewear and eyecare quickly turned into a genuine passion for helping others feel confident in their own glasses.
With a natural flair for fashion and a keen eye for detail, Sarah brings fresh energy and creativity to the practice. Her background in customer service, combined with her enthusiasum for finding the perfect frame for every face, makes her a perfect fit for CBTR’s personalised approach to eyecare.
Sarah has also completed a barista course—so not only has our frame styling been elevated, but so has our coffee! Whether you're popping in for a new pair of specs or just a chat, you're guaranteed a warm welcome (and a great flat white).
In her spare time, Sarah enjoys aerial silks, bouldering, and long walks with her Cavachon.
