CBTR isn't an acronym, it's simply a play on words pronounced 'see' (C) 'better' (BTR)
Our Story
Our founder, Hayley (above, right), has always been extremely passionate about exceptional client care. After working in different optical practices since 2010 she felt the optical industry needed a cultural reset, and so began building the CBTR brand; a business wholeheartedly committed to sustainability whilst never compromising in quality or care.
As the high streets become increasingly alike, independent businesses are more important than ever. When it comes to your eyecare, small means specialised. It means more time devoted entirely to you, time spent putting you at ease with a completely personal service.
Being a totally independent and local business, our clients can be at the centre of every decision we make, ensuring all clients are treated as individuals.

Meet The Experts
Hayley Brunsden BSc (Hons) MCOptom FBDO CL
Founder & Optometrist
Hayley started her Optical career in 2010 as a Trainee Dispensing Optician in a small independent practice, where she completed her 3-year course to become a Dispensing Optician, followed by qualifying as a Contact Lens Optician in 2015. During her sabbatical year in 2017 she qualified as an Optometrist, gaining a First Class Honours degree from the University of Bradford.
Hayley has worked in independent practice over the past 14 years as well as gaining experience in eye hospital clinics. In addition to working full-time she was Chair of the Oxfordshire Local Optical Committee (LOC) during the 3 years before she founded CBTR.
Hayley is committed to providing exceptional and tailored client service whilst keeping sustainability at the forefront of every business decision she makes. She excels at CBTR Opticians, where she is able to give clients a personal service in an unhurried atmosphere.
In her spare time she enjoys weightlifting, walking her Yorkshire Terrier, and watching Watford FC (although that hasn't brought much enjoyment over the past few years!).
John Edwards
Co-founder & Adviser
Having run a successful optical business for 25 years, and with over 30 years of experience in providing the highest quality eyewear, John felt it was time for his next venture.
John previously employed Hayley as 'Head of Optometry' in his group of independent opticians and, after that business was acquired by a much larger company, the time felt right to start again!
Whilst John doesn't work in practice his knowledge, experience and skills are essential for the smooth running of the business.
In his spare time he enjoys cycling, riding his motorbike, and spending time with his daughters.
Terri Farrant FBDO
Dispensing Optician
Terri started in the Optical industry in 2013, working alongside Hayley in a small independent practice. She quickly began her 3-year course with the Association of British Dispensing Opticians (ABDO) to become a Dispensing Optician.
In 2021 Terri became a Mum to a beautiful baby girl and decided to return to work on a part-time basis. When Hayley created CBTR Opticians, it was a no-brainer for her to ask Terri to form part of her small hand-picked team.
With over 10 years of experience in the optical industry, Terri always provides clients with the best solutions to fit their individual lifestyle and vision needs.
In addition to Terri being a Mum and working part-time as a Dispensing Optician, she sits on the LOC as Education Officer. If she ever gets any spare time(!), she spends it seeing family and friends.
Dharmin Naik
Audiologist
Dharmin is a specialist audiologist harnessing modern techniques and technology to help clients gain optimal aural health. He practices from CBTR Opticians every other Friday, and also from within the comfort of clients' homes.
He is member of the British Academy of Audiology, Association of Independent Hearing Healthcare Professionals, and the British Tinnitus Association.
Dharmin's particular interests lie in delivering market-leading hearing and sound enrichment technologies, mindfulness techniques and CBT to manage tinnitus (and delivering tinnitus management training), investigating and managing auditory processing delay, and ear wax removal.
